They close your eyes. Their dour mouths are filled with flies, That feed and feast upon their lies, Until the last one of them dies. Close your eyes. They lie awake. And with each breath, the lives they take, Cut down by hatred or mistake. Some young, some old- All hard to shake. Lie awake. They close their eyes. They close your eyes. (x3) So who's to blame? When countless bodies fall like rain. Each one unique, but all the same. They count their checks- No soul, no shame. Who's to blame? They hear them cry. And with each tear a family dies. Just stumped emotions, limbs and lives, To fill the coffers of their pride. Hear them cry. They close their eyes. They close your eyes. (x3) And so they wait. Ignore the ones done in by fate. All pent up rage, and fear, and hate. No room for reason or debate. Oh, just wait... ‘Cus we will rise. We have to rise. We’re gonna rise. Yes, we will rise! Yes, we will rise!

about

IMPORTANT: All proceeds from the sale of this album will be donated to March for Our Lives (See: marchforourlives.com/home/), in support of their valiant efforts to advance the cause of common-sense gun legislation, while attempting to balance the obvious pain and outrage in society with a message of hope, compassion, reason, and love. I will also match the donation raised by this release up to $100 from my personal funds.

This track was written and recorded in the shadow of the long and virtually uninterrupted line of school shootings in the United States, and in the direct wake of the tragedy at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida on February 14, 2018.

I can't imagine losing my daughter to senseless gun violence resulting from willful inaction by certain people. You know the ones.

While I have been looking to contribute in my personal life by getting involved in the political process, and raising awareness in my circles, I have always resigned myself to the fact that I am but one voice. This thought eventually led me to the idea of using my voice to record this track about school shootings and gun violence in general, and the greed that enables them.

While this track will also be on my next album, I am releasing it as a name-your-price single for the purposes of raising funds for March for Our Lives.

Never Again.

about

Thunder Porpoise

Thunder Porpoise is a Synthwave project I started as an opportunity to explore and re-live the retro sounds I grew up with in the 80s.
